Do I need a prescription to order a retainer?
Nope! You don’t need a prescription. Our process is entirely direct-to-consumer. Once you order, we send you everything you need to take impressions at home. Our dental professionals take it from there.
What if I mess up my impression?
No worries! just email customersupport@getcheeky.com and we will have a new kit sent to you free of charge!
Will it work if I have crowns, veneers, or dental work?
Yes! Our retainers are custom-made to your exact bite, which means they work with most dental restorations—including crowns, veneers, bridges, and implants. If we spot an issue, we’ll reach out before making your guard.
Which type of retainer should I choose — upper, lower, or both?
Upper Retainer: Fits your top teeth only. Most people choose this if they had braces or aligners on just the upper arch, or if their top teeth are more prone to shifting.
Lower Retainer: Fits your bottom teeth only. Ideal if you only had treatment on your lower teeth or want to focus retention there.
Upper & Lower Retainers: Includes both top and bottom retainers. Choose this if your orthodontist recommends full-arch retention or you want maximum protection for your smile.
Still unsure? Most customers start with the upper retainer unless told otherwise by their orthodontist.
How long does it take to get my retainer?
Most customers receive their finished retainer within 7–10 business days after we receive your impression. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
Is this FSA/HSA eligible?
Yes! Cheeky retainer are fully FSA and HSA eligible. You can use your flexible spending or health savings account at checkout, or submit your receipt for reimbursement.
How often should I replace my retainer?
Most people replace their retainer every 3 to 6 months, depending on wear. Heavy grinders may need replacements more often. If you're on a subscription, we make sure you always have a fresh one when you need it.
